Numerous Protected Anchorages can be found in Clayoquot Sound |
We spent the
last two days in Clayoquat Sound investigating the many anchorages available to
pleasure boaters. The water depths are
perfect for anchoring, unlike those found in Northern B.C. where depths are
often too deep. Best of all, the anchorages
are never crowded or full.
During our
week of cruising in Clayoquat Sound, we saw only one other pleasure boat in the
entire region.

An Aqua Farm near Tofino |
While there are a number
of aqua farms and a few fish farms, mostly near Tofino, there are many places
to anchor and scenic inlets and passages to explore.
While tourists come to the area to take a
boat excursion from Tofino to visit the Hot Springs and beaches, it appears that Clayoquot
Sound has yet to be discovered by pleasure boaters, including both sailboats
and power yachts.
