April Point Marina

April Point Resort, on the east side of Discovery Passage from Campbell River, was our next stop; it’s a peaceful, quiet option outside the active town and marinas of Campbell River.  On Quadra Island, the resort itself is on April Point, while the marina docks are a short distance further inside the bay.

A classic resort from an earlier time, notable stars like Bob Hope and John Wayne vacationed here.  The restaurant and spa still provide quality service and vacationers continue to visit here.  The docks receive regular maintenance, and we were told that plans are in the works for upgrades in 2019.  While at April Point Marina, we took the dinghy through a cut between Quadra Island and Gowlland Island into Gowlland Harbour, a large protected bay with good anchoring depths at the north end. 

Seascape Waterfront Resort & Marina

Gowlland Harbour is also home to Seascape Waterfront Resort & Marina.  Seascape is one of those gems in the ruff that’s being revived.  New owners have refurbished the docks and the cute cabins that overlook Gowlland Harbour.

The most interesting asset is the large octagon-shaped building, well suited for rendezvous and special events.

The interior is quite striking with beautiful wood finishes, sculptures, a nautical-themed bar, a large stone fireplace and nice furnishings.  Additional improvements are planned for the future, including plans for a café and liquor license.  We enjoyed meeting the owners and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
